The read
Our editorial read
Excision's dinosaur-themed bass festival at Legend Valley in Ohio: three days of dubstep, riddim, drum & bass and camping, with a 360-degree Crater stage.
The full editorial
Lost Lands is Excision's dinosaur-themed bass festival, held on the grass, dirt and gravel hills of Legend Valley about 35 miles east of Columbus. Car camping puts your tent beside your vehicle; tent-only, forest tent, Easy Camping, RV and glamping options work differently. You walk between seven stages and listen to bass until 4 AM on Friday and Saturday. The main Prehistoric Stage carries the headliners; the 360-degree Crater puts you inside the lights; Wompy Woods hosts the Excision Detox set; Raptor Alley starts at midnight with drum & bass, hardstyle and trap. Camping has its own entertainment and Village Marketplace, so there is more to the weekend than the main stages. It is loud, dusty and often wet: the grounds have seen serious rain in 2018, 2021 and again in 2026, when Sunday's final hours were cancelled after a second storm evacuation and vehicles had to be towed out of the mud. Logistics are the trade-off. There is one road in, shuttles from downtown Columbus can take 40-60 minutes each way, camping vehicles cannot leave and return, and sites sell out months ahead. Go anyway if you care about the music: the lineup depth (dubstep, melodic bass, D&B, hardstyle) and the production are the reason this crowd keeps coming back, and the campsite community is what people remember.
Go if
- Bass fans who want a dubstep-heavy lineup and will camp on site
- Groups who plan months ahead and treat the campsite as half the weekend
- People who will walk hills in mud and rain for late-night dubstep
Skip if
- You want a city festival with hotels and short, tidy days
- You cannot handle constant sub-bass, long walks and unpredictable weather
- Bass and adjacent genres are not your thing
Inside the festival
A loud, muddy bass pilgrimage: grass and gravel hills, dinosaurs around every path, and stages running past 3 AM.
Mostly 18-35 US bass fans who camp on site in big friend groups, with a strong regulars' community and a notable international turnout.

Worth it for / the catch
Worth it for
- Seven stages of bass, including the 360-degree Crater
- On-site camping means no nightly drive to a hotel
- Lineup depth: dubstep, melodic bass, D&B, trap and hardstyle
- Cashless site with free water refills and showers at the camping Nests
The catch
- Weather risk is real; 2026 lost its final hours to storms
- One road in and out; entry traffic and shuttle waits can run hours
- Muddy, hilly ground is hard on feet and accessibility
- Admission and camping sell out, and camping costs extra
