The read
Our editorial read
Bassrush's bass festival beside the Queen Mary on the Long Beach waterfront: four stages of dubstep, riddim, drum & bass and experimental across two nights.
The full editorial
Apocalypse: Zombieland is Bassrush's bass festival on the Long Beach waterfront, held on the concrete beside the Queen Mary. It ran on Thanksgiving weekend for its first three years, then moved to June for 2026, and it is staying in summer: the next edition is June 18-19, 2027. The setting does as much work as the sound. The stages sit against the ship, the water is on one side, and downtown Long Beach is a short walk over the Queensway Bridge, so you can stay in a hotel and skip camping entirely. Four stages split the bass world: a main dubstep stage, a riddim and heavy-bass fort, a drum & bass room, and an experimental and halftime stage. Hours are 2 PM to 1 AM, 18+, and the crowd is a SoCal bass scene that shows up for the low end. Afterparties run until 5 AM and are ticketed separately. The trade-offs are real. There is no parking at the Queen Mary, so you shuttle in from downtown or walk the bridge; there is no re-entry and no camping; and the June dates now put the weekend in summer heat instead of cool November nights. The reason to go is the combination: a deep dubstep and drum & bass bill, an outdoor waterfront, and the Queen Mary looming over the whole thing.
Go if
- SoCal bass fans who want a waterfront festival without camping
- Drum & bass and dubstep listeners who want both on one bill
- People who will stay downtown and shuttle or walk to the venue
Skip if
- You want camping, parking at the gate or a rural setting
- You need house, techno or trance on the bill
- Two long outdoor June days with no re-entry sound like too much
Inside the festival
A waterfront bass marathon beside a 1930s ocean liner: four stages, heavy low end, and downtown Long Beach a bridge walk away.
A SoCal bass crowd that skews young and groups up, heavy on dubstep and riddim fans with a strong drum & bass pocket.

Worth it for / the catch
Worth it for
- Four stages cover dubstep, riddim, drum & bass and experimental bass
- Waterfront setting beside the Queen Mary, with downtown hotels a bridge walk away
- Free shuttles from downtown parking
- A deep drum & bass bill alongside the dubstep
The catch
- No parking at the venue and no camping, so logistics take planning
- No re-entry across an 11-hour day
- June dates now mean summer heat rather than cool November nights
- Almost no house, techno or trance on the bill
