The read
Our editorial read
Insomniac's flagship festival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway: three nights of dusk-to-dawn dance music with nine stages, carnival rides, and huge production. 2027 runs two weekends.
The full editorial
EDC Las Vegas is the biggest dance music weekend in the US, and the Speedway does not let you forget it. You park for free or ride an official shuttle, then walk into an infield rebuilt as a neon carnival: nine stages, art cars, rides, and more than 200 artists across three nights. The schedule runs dusk to dawn. Gates open around 7 PM Saturday and Sunday, 5 PM Friday, and the last sets end at 5:30 AM. Main-stage crowds peak between midnight and 3 AM, so Kinetic Field is densest in the middle of the night; Neon Garden, Wasteland, and Quantum Valley stay easier to move through, and Basspod sits near the back of the site. The crowd is international and mostly in their 20s and 30s, with plenty of Vegas locals. This is not a relaxed festival. Exits can take an hour, rideshare at 5 AM is slow and surge-priced, and wind can shut stages: that happened on the 2026 closing night. Heat near 100 at the start of the weekend and overnight lows in the 50s are both real. What makes the pain worth it is scale. Few promoters build stages this large, and the drone and fireworks shows over Kinetic Field are the thing people remember. Camp EDC takes the drive out of the equation if you can afford it. Go if you want the biggest version of a rave; skip it if you need space, quiet, or an early night.
Go if
- First-timers who want the biggest version of a US rave festival
- Groups splitting a hotel room or a Camp EDC ShiftPod
- Production chasers who care about stage design, drones, and fireworks
- Fans of big-room, bass, techno, and trance on one ticket
Skip if
- You hate huge crowds and hour-long exits at 5 AM
- You want a small, cheap, easy weekend festival
- A dusk-to-dawn schedule and desert wind sound miserable to you
Inside the festival
A neon carnival inside a speedway: nine stages of bass, techno, and trance, fireworks and drones after 1 AM, and a crowd that treats sunrise as the last set.
International ravers in their 20s and 30s, big West Coast and Vegas local turnout, costumes and kandi everywhere, and a lot of first-timers.

Buy from Front Gate only and don't lend a scanned pass to a friend; the ticket is one scan per day and non-transferable.

Rent a locker and use it as a fixed meetup point; phone service gets unreliable in the big crowds.

The wind threshold is real: stages closed on the closing nights of 2025 and 2026, so have a plan B stage in mind each night.

- Under-booking the exit: at 5:30 AM the free lots and shuttle queues are slow, so decide your route before the last set.

Worth it for / the catch
Worth it for
- Stage production at a scale few US festivals match, with drones and fireworks over the mainstage.
- Nine stages cover big-room, bass, techno, trance, and hardstyle in one ticket.
- Dusk-to-dawn hours and dedicated sunrise sets.
- Camp EDC puts you next to the gates, and general parking is free.
The catch
- Crowds of 150,000-plus a night mean slow walks, packed mainstage areas, and long exits.
- Vegas hotel, shuttle, and food costs stack up fast.
- Wind can close stages with little warning, as it did in 2012, 2019, 2025, and 2026.
- A 5:30 AM finish for three straight nights is brutal on sleep.
