The read
Our editorial read
Insomniac and Bassrush's all-bass festival at the Central Florida Fairgrounds: three days in 2027, five themed stages, and a bill built on dubstep, riddim, drum & bass, and trap.
The full editorial
Forbidden Kingdom is the East Coast's largest dedicated bass festival, and it does not pretend otherwise. The bill is dubstep, riddim, drum & bass, and trap from top to bottom, spread across five stages whose names come from the festival's medieval-fantasy story: The Forbidden Realm, The Dragon's Lair, The Mystic Garden, The Crystal Spire, and The Cursed Ruins. Editions have run two days in the Orlando spring at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, on the Orlando Amphitheater grounds; the 2027 edition expands to three days, April 23-25. Insomniac and Bassrush book a deep roster rather than a handful of arena names, so the poster rewards anyone who reads the small type. Expect heavy sound systems, a crowd that came specifically for bass, and a production budget that shows in the drone and fireworks displays that closed recent nights. The trade-offs are real. The venue is a grass-and-asphalt fairground, not a forest or a desert, and Florida in late April is hot and storm-prone, so the festival runs rain or shine. There is no camping, which pushes most people into Orlando hotels and rental cars, and parking is limited enough that the festival tells you to carpool. Hours and the 2027 lineup were not published when checked, so those details are deliberately left blank here. Insomniac's own press release says the 2026 edition sold out, and the official passes page already marked the 2027 three-day tiers sold out at check. That scarcity, plus a lineup that rarely repeats, is why people plan this one a year ahead.
Go if
- Bass fans who want a full weekend of dubstep, riddim, drum & bass, and trap
- People who pick a festival by the whole lineup rather than the headliners
- Groups flying into Orlando for a two- or three-day trip
Skip if
- You want camping, nature, or a venue that is not a fairground
- You dislike heat, humidity, and Florida spring storms
- You need a walking-distance hotel or easy on-site parking
Inside the festival
A fairground rebuilt as a bass theme park: five story-book stages, a crowd that came for low end, and drone and fireworks shows over the grass.
Bass-first attendees from across the Southeast and beyond, heavy on groups, kandi, and dedicated headbangers who know the undercard.

Worth it for / the catch
Worth it for
- One of the largest all-bass bills in North America, with depth beyond the headliners.
- Five themed stages and a production package that includes drones and fireworks.
- A short drive from Orlando International Airport and the city's hotels.
The catch
- No camping, so lodging and parking must be arranged separately.
- Grass-and-asphalt fairground in Florida heat and storm season.
- Parking is limited and sold out in advance on recent editions.
- 2027 hours and lineup were not published at the time of writing.
